Obedience

(Shared with a dear friend… to good not to share again...)

From Ezekiel.  He was a Jewish "street preacher" in Babylon for 22 years, telling everyone about God's judgement and salvation, and calling them to repent and obey.

This guy was ridiculously obedient to God.  Amazing!

Just read a question after going through some of the things that he did that were just unbelievable tough to think about; that ended with this sentence: "God may not ask you to do anything quite so dramatic or difficult; but if he did, would you do it?"

Wow... just intensely powerful to think about. Immediately took me to the moment that Abraham was going to sacrifice his son!  Just wow to think about!

John 14:27-29

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

A splash of colour

28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.

29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.

And then there's Heaven...

Luke 6:37-38

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:37-38

Imagine

“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.” ― C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
