Open Your Eyes Today

This morning I am reading in John, about the man that was born blind that Jesus healed:

eyes-wide-open

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”  “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:1-5

It was believed that sin resulted in suffering, but Jesus used the man's suffering to glorify God.  We live in a fallen world where good behavior is not always rewarded and bad behavior is not always punished.  Therefore, often innocent people suffer.  If God took away their suffering whenever we asked, we would follow out of convenience, not out of love and devotion.  For this reason we should not focus on "why did this happen to me". Instead we should ask God to give us strength for the trial and a better understanding of what is happening.

Father God your timing and direction is surely flawless.  I so needed this reminder, and You directed my eyes and my heart to these Words that always provide so much insight and understanding.  Today I am strengthened by You and I will seek You in all that I am and all that I do.  Thank you for providing so much more that I deserve and for helping me to see Your light shining through Your Son, Jesus. Be with me and be with those that are also struggling today, so that we can glorify You, no matter what comes our way.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you… I love You with all that I am.  In the most powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, I pray.  Amen.
